i was a motown nazi growing up but like so many things when you reach adult hood and you find there is no santa, no tooth fairy,no supremes who were as peas in a pod.i cryed when i found out there was no santa and when florence left i cryed. i found out that the 3 people i loved and idolized did not love each other.as i grew older i found there would be more heartaches but the supremes were never suppose to break my heart and i never told anyone this.afraid they would laugh.Ilove u still d,f m.

U know, in reading everyone's post silly me never knew that Flo actually stood in front of the mike Diana should've been in front and no wonder she was louder. Of course by Fancy Passes she was turned down. But the part with the Andrews Sisters Flo was again in front of the mike where DIana should've been. Poor Flo fighting for her moment and no wonder in Dreamgirls I saw this part played out where Effie took to the mike before Deena. Took me all these years to see this happen .

I noticed during the dialouge(sp?) through the song, Diana would look at Mary when singing her response, but not Flo. hmmmm

@soulsista1220 that's true
she was turned down mostly
all people at motown say that she had a very strong voice, and people said she stood about 3-4 meters away from the mic while mary was in front

florence just has a strong voice in person dianas voice is very strong matter what the formula worked with holland dozier holland they were just on of the things we needed in the 60s it gave young people some thing to dream about with that turbulant decade it was a great time to be alive in spite of the assasinations there was just so much going on

@classanddignity True, Flo helped these ruthless people oust her from a group she was invited the join FIRST, but I don't think she's intentionally singing louder than Diana. Watch Flo do background in almost all footage. She's hardly opening her mouth. Half of the time Flo's mic was lowered so much after sound check that u couldn't even hear her.

I LOVE MOTOWN!-- NO other "girl group" had what the Supremes had, before, then, or since then.

I LOVE MOTOWN!

I think of the Artist Fantasia when I see a young Diana Ross.
I don't understand you people.... 40 years later you're still bitching about who was the best Supreme... Can't you just sit back, forget the bs and enjoy the best girl group in history? All three girls were great and each one contributed to the success of the group in their own way. Diana, Mary and Flo had magic so...stop in the name of love all that individual bashing. It's both tiresome and useless. The Supremes made a huge contribution. Have U contributed anything lately?

What a treat! I don't believe I've ever seen "the girls" sing "Fancy Passes" live before. The original Supremes were the ULTIMATE! And they remain so to this very day! New-school audiences have to learn how to look beyond the backstage mess and get into the magic that was onstage!
