  • I have since been up there last August on my bike since posting, and it is truly an amzing peice of road, THE VIEW IS....INCREDIBLE. Had a wee drinkie and toilet stop over the otherside in the Applecross Inn then back over again for a 2nd round and had to do an emergency stop for a HUGE Stag! Got to be experienced at least once in a life time. I was abit uncertain because you'd mentioned the scree and gravel, but it wasn't too bad.

Thanks again for posting Vid :-)

  • Thank you for the update. Brilliant isn't it.

As you say, it is a MUST DO.

The gravel was worse for me on the North Road,

but I did not meet any STAGS - gulp..

Add the two raods together and you have a 40 mile loop,

that is an absolute must for any tour of Scotland on a bike.

I think I'll have to go back in 09,

thanks to your post, I'm remembering what I'm missing.

As long as the damned Greens have not made petrol too expensive again..

  • absolutely brilliant. my favourite road in the whole of scotland, i've done it a couple of times on the bike now. the bealach na ba is spectacular but the north coast road is like a rollercoaster. i want to do it again! (maybe in 2 or 3 weeks actually?)

    thanks for posting them. :-D

  • Thank you, greatly appreciated.

I agree the North Road is "under-rated".

(Have they moved that signpost yet...)

    " (maybe in 2 or 3 weeks actually?) "

What date, maybe we can get a convvoy of bikes going across at the same time...

    Silly, but fun idea..

  • Thankyou so much for posting this Weiun, this is one trip I have promised myself I will do on my bike (VTR Firestorm) Looks like it might have been better suited to my Cagiva Canyon though with those surfaces. What Bike were you riding there??(Sounds like a Single) I haven't done this road since I was little in the backseat of the Car with Family. Would love to do it for myself. My Friend's always raving about this road, he goes up there alot and gets up it in a Mercedes Mobile Home

  • MERCEDES MOBILE HOME....Gulp...

    Bike = TeDiuM..

Sort of proves it isn't really.

Long travel suspension is a must on this road,

unless you want to inspect the heather close up..LOL.

  • And in Scotland......

  • Great video. Just been over it in a mobile home. Fairly easy as little traffic. Sorry now I didn't have the camcorder running.

  • I've been over this road many times, in a car mind - can be scary depending on the weather, the livestock, and whoever is coming in the opposute direction!! You can really smell your brakes at the bottom when you arrive at the inn....Many thanx for the video, brings back some great memories.

  • Have crossed over this pass many times but always in a car, loved the bike ride, felt I was on the back hinging on fer grim death.
