@capnvlad He wears gloves at the very beginning but when Tina grows up and brings him back there is no gloves as they rotted off. So I take it is from that part.

I thought maybe it was because in part VI Megan escapes being pulled under the water by holding onto a boat and starting the motor, it's propellor cutting into Jason's neck and damaging his mask.

in part 6 jason masked gets chip by a boat long story but if u whatch it u will get it
