The original was written way before Leadbelly! This was originally sung as a field song by enslaved Africans in America. Leadbelly may have added some additional lyrics but the melody goes way back.

@Bubbleyumizchewi17 The original song was written by Leadbelly, my father was a huge Leadbelly fan and it is about Leadbelly when he was in prison .My father had very old recordings from Leadbelly singing this song and there are some verses no longer sung; Sylvie brought me water, Sylvie brought me tea, Sylvie brought me everything but she did not bring the jail house key" Sylvie was suppose to help him break out by putting the key in a bucket of water

stupendous voices!! don't need to strip or pole dance or have hi-tech lighting and effects prog. Their music and talent is ALL that is needed - ladies - we are honoured!
