Disappointing -- technically perfect but too fast and the expressivo quality of this slow movement is lost. The first violinist should sing (or lament) like a human voice. Glad I listened to this before almost buying one of their discs.

Ho avuto il piacere di vedere numerose volte un dvd in cui Paul Tortelier segnala l'affinità tra le note tematiche di questo movimento e l'apres un reve di Faurè, affermando come ogni compositore a partire dalla stessa idea melodica si possa sbizzarrire in maniera personalissima ed originale secondo il proprio estro armonico, motivo per cui l'arte compositiva serba infinite risorse.

As noted in above Italian, this is not Quartet #18. Beethoven only wrote 16 quartets plus the Grosse Fugue. It is the 2nd movement of Quartet #1 from Opus 18 #1.
