Kevin Slavin, managing director and co-founder of Area/Code, discusses games that rely on the "overview effect," a feeling of euphoric connectedness experienced by astronauts when viewing Earth from space. He explains that by forming overlays for the real world, these games are able to produce the same type of reaction in gamers.

  • I am not sure why he would say that the photo of the earth isnt magic? Photos of sunsets are still beautiful. Granted it isnt the same as actually being there-but it is still a beautiful blue planet.

  • No it shouldn't. You don't call it Earth Google, do you numb-nuts?

  • At The Great American Dollhouse Museum we hear, daily, about peoples' connection with the miniature villages of the museum. It's very magical and I'm not surprised that these games would capture the imagination in a similar way.

  • do you beleive that the united states government caused 9-11? or that aliens do exist but they are little green martians flying around in flying saucers? cause there are convincing documentaries on both but with little effort thoe therois are shot down, I will watch the documentary because I dont want to seem a hipocrite.

  • I'm not smoking anything what have you been smoking?

Ancient Aliens will blow your mind, it's a documentory that aired in the summer of 09 on the History channel.

    You will be shocked seriously

  • @bigsteelguy what have you been smoking?

  • I'm intriuged by that. Even people who have just gone into the stratosphere (like Top Gear's James May) are somehow changed.

I wonder if it's a physical thing? Like humans aren't meant to go that far away from the ground.

I can't possibley imagine what it would be like.

  • It's funny, I watched an old movie called A Trip To The Moon. It portrayed the moon as some kind of magical, fantastic place far more bizarre than the real thing.

There's also War of the Worlds, the book says the aliens came from Mars.

Now days both the moon and Mars are nothing special. But it was interesting to see them from an old perspective.

Most of those ancient structures were created so their god could see it. And in all cultures god lives in the sky for some reason.

  • Those symbols were meant for the ancient gods, aka Aliens who visited our planet thousands of years ago, and continue till this day as well.

Watch Ancient Aliens in Hd on my channel

  • @songcovers Youve never heard that about astronauts before? Have you heard Buzz Aldrins stories about what he experienced up there??? Its creepy.

  • Its so annoying when these freaks start making something out of nothing.... Yeah, its such a big phenomenon how people make things like a giant eye is watching us.... Come on bastard, that kind of action is very rare....

BTW. it should be called, "earth dollhouse" not "dollhouse earth"
