The first playing of the money version of the Beat the Dragon bonus, implementing the same font as category names and a slightly quirkier money distribution. (Personally, I would have like to have seen it go $100-$150-$200-$250-$300-$500 making 3-pick wins less frequent.)

  • @Dannymac82 Sometime last year, GSN aired several episodes of TTD that did indeed have the dragon on a blue background. I would guess that that was sometime around 1982 or 1983 or so, but they only did that for about a week or so before going back to a red background.

  • Syndicated TTD aired on three Detroit stations first was WJBK until 1981 and was off a year then WDIV picked up the show in 1982 replacing Bullseye, then WXON (now WMYD) for the 1984-85 season and Detroit didn't air any Caldwell episodes.

  • Wow, could those dollar amount fonts have been any smaller? You practically needed a microscope to see them! I grew up used to the much larger font being used. Odd amounts, $50 for one of the boxes? Don't really recall this episode, but began watching right around the time that Thom McKee was on. Wink was a tremendous and legendary host. I had the great good fortune of e-mailing him last year and he responded in kind too, and not just a quick 1 or 2 sentence reply either! Classy guy!

  • Same here also I also wonder why he also loves the #9

  • I wonder why the dragon loves #6.

  • Sweet! there was a question about the Seattle Pilots and Mariners

  • The first playing of beat the dragon was a bit slow; but that was necessary since it was the first time someone had ever played that game. I personally prefer the CBS bonus round since it had to do with TIC TAC DOUGH in every way. The game may have been brought to a grinding halt before but it's still fast paced and excillartating; it's only the beginning for what was to happen for the next 8 years. Even though they always had a choice on what to do; Carla was conservative here.

  • this is one of my favorite game shows of all time!!

  • The dragon loves #6. Just wish TTD kepted the flashing eyes on him!

  • I dont ever remember seeing him in a blue backround. but if you have a clip of it. I would be interested in seeing it
