Did a bit of research; both Dillon and Freese said the song itself wasn't difficult to play. Freese said that the big reason they never did it live was that they could never do an ending that fit the song well in a live situation, because doing the album ending was anticlimactic. After trying to make it work for a while, Trent apparently just lost interest in the song (not surprising, since he's said numerous times that he wasn't a big fan of it)
