I bought this from a guy who had just pulled this from his barn. It had been sitting for several years. The previous owner puchased this from an estate sale in Ft. Wayne Indiana. To get it started, all I needed was a battery and fuel pump. Since then, I have added a rebuilt water pump, new tires, dual pipes, and of course dist cap rotor, plugs and cables. Starts every time, glides down the road....wish they still made em' like that!! Special thanks to David Wilcox. Saw him in concert in Indy (Dec, 2009) Fantastic performer, and it was an honor to meet you.

  • very good looking and a great cruiser. one of my faves, for the 50s era. a landmark perhaps.

  • Looks in amazing original :D I actually prefer these 4 door pillarless (non flattop) versions. Convertibles are just kind of a headache on raining days, hot days and poor weather not to mention those rag top woes :) I wish we got these cars down under but sadly no.

  • evertime i see one of these old caddys it kills me, my grandfather died and left me his old caddy but my it got rusted up and was in no condition to drive so we were gonna fix it. then times were tough and we had not much money so we had to sell it but i t was in no condition so we scrapped it. My lifes goal to get my hands on another one!

  • you know, the car described in the song is a 59 Cadillac...."rolled off the line in detroit in 1958, 3 days in the show room", that says that it was the new 59 model, and the reference to tail fins and road locomotive are caddy references. also, the top 3 "american dreams" are the 57 chevy, 59 CADDY and 50 ford f1 shortbed. , so it is a 59 caddy in the song

  • @emeryjk Yeah, that's about right. I got the same model as you, and I am a "collision repair technician", but I know how to turn a few wrenches at these behemoths. Anyways, in my opinion 9-10 gallons is accurate.

  • I'm old enough to remember when those cars were brand new. The 1960 Caddy was also beautiful but I think the 1959 model was the most beautiful Cadillac ever built. A really magnificent car.
