WONG:
The Large Hadron Collider is the most powerful particle accelerator ever created. Scientists hope that by slamming together two beams of particles at almost the speed of light, they will be able to gain new information about the creation of the universe. But it's not without controversy. Here's more on the story.

STORY:
Scientists from around the world are making final preparations for the biggest experiment ever conducted to unlock the secrets of the universe.

Housed in a vast cavern 100 meters beneath the French-Swiss border is the most powerful particle accelerator ever built. The Large Hadron Collider will recreate conditions not seen since the first billionth of a second after the Big Bang at the dawn of creation.

[Lyn Evans, Collider Project Leader]:
"It's the biggest scientific project ever."

Lyn Evans is the LHC project leader at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research.

Two beams of protons - one of the building blocks of matter -- will circulate in opposite directions around the underground ring at close to the speed of light. The sub-atomic particles will be smashed together in four huge detectors placed along the 27-kilometer ring, generating showers of energy
and matter.

Physicists hope those will include the elusive Higgs boson, dubbed the 'God Particle'.

According to the Standard Model of physics, this ghostly particle created in the moment following the big bang is responsible for assigning mass to elementary particles. But its existence is yet to be confirmed experimentally.

The hunt for the Higgs isn't the only objective.

[Lyn Evans, Collider Project Leader]:
"One very important question is the missing mass of the universe. We now know that we can see only 4 percent of our universe, 96 percent is a complete mystery to us today."

Dark matter and dark energy are two of the most vexing problems in science today. Together they dominate the universe, but nobody knows what either is. Dark energy, for example, is believed to be the hidden force that's stretching space and speeding the expansion of the universe.

Some scientists believe that microscopic black holes might be generated in the collider - those cosmic hoovers from which nothing can escape.

That idea has alarmed many. Critics say the nine-billion dollar atom-smasher is a doomsday machine that could destroy the planet.

A group of scientists are mounting a last-minute court challenge to prevent the end of the world as we know it. Physicists at CERN insist the LHC is "absolutely safe." They say that protons regularly collide in the earth's upper atmosphere without creating black holes.

Only time will tell if they're right, of course. The first particle collisions are due to take place within a few weeks - allowing scientists to probe the origins of creation as never before.

  • this is pretty wild stuff. but in my uneducated opinion, that money would be far better spent developing the delorian from back to the future. then we could just go back to the beginning of the world and see what really happened.

  • @Totothemonkey what happens when gods make mistakes

  • they should support 1000 genius and freaking smart teenages than making that stupid big something.

  • scarabs destroy the collider deploy the indestructible scarabs, colla[se all the ducts and orbs make away with it's source.

And yet, we can see, we can visualize the ethereal matter. The scheme to one device for to visualize the ethereal matter: EXIST! And this device it can realize!

The matter of the our terrestrial globe has four states of aggregation: solid, liquid, gseous and ethereal and not three after official science. The matter on which we see it, proceed from the ethereal matter, which from cancentration in concentration it had constituted in the electrons, in protons respectivel;y in the atoms of the chemical elements which had overtaken at the gaseous, liquid and solid state. All the matter on which we see it, is condensed ether.

The GRAVITY’s PARTICLES as aproximately the smallest ethereal particles, constitute the most general ethereal aggregation state from nature, with the largest temperature interval, from zero Kelvin degrees to millions of degrees in stars. That is an aggregation state which coexist with all others aggregation states(solid, liquid, gaseous, ethereal) and on which it influenced them. The actual official science is mistaken in great proportion because this has not in sight the Ether
