@bigBrude41 I groom him every other day since I keep his hair short now. He's really not much trouble at all. I comb him slowly and use a detangler. I also use conditioner after shampoo, while bathing, which makes it easier to get tangles out.

why is his hair so stringy cause it seems like when ever i see pics of these cute dogs it seems like when they have long hair its very full and flowy... im not trying to insult your dog or anything i was just wondering cause i was thinkin of getting a maltese and i dont wanna have professinol help (if i let the dog keep its long hair)...is is hair like that cause it is just starting to grow his long hair ot what... please respond

@rabbit12021 His hair just needed to be combed here, that's why he looks "stringy" is all. It doesn't take much for him to look this way. He looks like you're saying for about a day after he's bathed and then he's stringy again. He just plays a lot. The smooth looking dogs get groomed a lot and are in conditions where they are shown.

@queengibson We got him in Alabama but I would have never recommended the broker we got him from. Ya, she was a broker alright. That was a puppy mill, I found out after we had fallen in love with him. I still can't get the images out of my mind. They seem to no longer sell...I wonder why? Hm...

@rabbit12021 Maltese don't have fur like most dogs, they have hair. That is why they don't shed.

@lovesmaltese yes NEVER go to a pet store. always adopt or go to a shelter. pet stores get their puppies from puppy mills. type in puppy mills right here on youtube and see what happens. the offspring produced at those mills always have some type of health problems like liver shunts, heart murmur, damaged body parts, to name a few. and yes you can find purebred maltese (not puppies of course) that would love to be your companion.
