@warhawk9566 My point with drop tanks is that when used, the F-22 and T-50 compromise their stealth. at that point there is no reason not to use F-15s or Su-35s. The pentagon has stated that the F-22 is mainly a defensive aircraft due to its range. I actually prefer having it defend the US because it can hide its weaknesses by being close to base and really use its incredible maneuverability to the Max.

@warhawk9566 The J-20 is still new and does not have its final engines in it. plus most of the testing is done in secret. However, I will say, the J-20 is more of a fighter/bomber/interceptor than an Air Superiority fighter. It is expected to have long range, high speed, but poor maneuverability at speed.

@tjohn6041 Pak Fa (t-50) has a longer range than the j20. speed isnt everything. thats what america thought in ww2 and then the zero kicked our ass with superior manueverability. ive done research and im unimpressed. its all estimates, the chinese are trying to make the aircraft seem better than it is

@tjohn6041 if the J-20 was good the chinese would be pushing it to its limit. they would be showing us what it can do. but they arent doing that. no live fire excersises, no performance excerises. they just take it off and say "its a fifth gen aircraft" f22 can carry drop tanks too btw. j20 does not have good range, again its a knockoff mix of the f22 and mig 1.44. t-50's are exceptional aircraft and so are the f22's. as ive said the j20 is fools gold

@warhawk9566 I would do some research before I said the J-20 is worthless. It is aerodynamically faster than its competitors and it appears to have a much longer range than the F-22 or T-50. The F-15 is just as bad but it has the ability to fix that with drop tanks. the issue is that stealth aircraft does not mix with good range (J-20 excepted). that is why planes like the F-15 and Su-35 will win wars, not Raptors and T-50s.

@tjohn6041 j-20 is fools gold. it looks great but its not gonna live up to anything. its the chinese poor attempt at knocking off a plane designed that is mixed of american and russian (if you look at the j-20 it looks an awful lot like an F-22 and a MIG 1.44.) every chinese plane is pathetic and dont be fooled by them. f22's range is about as much as an f15's range which is pretty impressive. maintenence use to over a day but now it takes 3 hours. f22 is just gonna get better.
