A couple of reasons... the camera fits better in my hands sideways... There's more coverage sideways - sideways you can get more torso, and not just face. I shoot better videos sideways. I've tried to shot traditionally, and they aren't as good. The last reason, I can hide my camera from video police easier when it's sideways.... Because the screen is up, many times, they assume it's a camera....
