this shows that changing the place of the strap button will solve the problem of neck dive in ltd viper 400. I heard this won't work with 7 string viper.

  • can someone now please show us how to drill a vid for dummies

  • @MatKiller1197 Give your guitar to the specialist, don't do it yourself. For me the cost was about 30$ with new straplocks.

  • I've read comments about the viper 301 and 400, the viper 301 has the strap button exactly at the place as your guitar but the comments were bad about action (the same problem as a viper 400, diving neck) and the viper 400, I found less complains about that, it's strange, you showed in the movie that the problem is solved if the strapbutton is placed like at the viper 301

  • I have no idea about that... In my guitar (ltd viper 400) it works even with a very thin strap... you should change the model you want if you hesitate because now I can't guarantee in 100% it will work. Maybe I'm just lucky guy :P

  • if you hold your guitar more horizontal, like matt devries from Chimaira (check out power trip videoclip), is the neck dive problem back then? Because I see you lift your guitar a little bit up in the movie before you move your hand away from the guitar.

I want to buy a ltd viper 400 also but I'm looking for a way to not deal with the neck dive problem. It are great guitars ^^ sounds pretty good, EMG ^^

  • nooo if you change the place fo the strap button the problem is gone forever you can hold your guitar in every way :D I just why I lift the guitar up.

  • @espzero I own Matt's old ESP Viper-7. It has the strap button drilled in the horn, just like you picture yours. I have no problem with it diving. I play MH and M styles mostly, but this shape is improved with the movement of the strap button to the horn. Hope to help.

  • Thanks a lot! This works really good, it's helped me alot.

  • how did you do this??? i have a viper 400 and it neck dives horribly... damn my back hurts after a while

  • thanks dude for the vid

  • yea ive had the strap pin on mine like that for awhile i got the from the iommi sg...and since i got the guitar wth no strap pins on it period i figd id jus have the tech put em there and it worked..no dives at all,way more balanced..

  • it works! I tried it on my guitar and the neck dive is gone! it feels like a totally different guitar!

    thanks for the tip man!

  • hey did you have a tech do this? or did you do it yourself? my tech says his drillbit isnt long enough to put it where i want. however, i have a drillbit i know i could fit into there but i'm afraid if i put it in myself the weight of the guitar might crack the horn. any suggestions please?

  • The older non-script logo headstock 301's don't neckdive and they have the strap on the horn. HOWEVER, the script logo 301's also have the button on the horn and neckdive regardless. They also weigh about 4 pounds less and don't sound nearly as dark.
