Born in 1980, his first attempt with music came in 1984 when he played with his parents (both musicians) in Schwetzingen, Germany during an encore. But the story starts in 1989 when he received his first electric guitar as a gift: "a Washburn but I don't remember the model". He started to play along with his heroes (Michael Jackson, Van Halen, Europe), while other kids his age usually preferred to play soccer. In 1992 he left the guitar to study the drums, another huge passion. "Being a drummer first and a guitarist second, helped me a lot in terms of creativity and rhythmic knowledge." In 1996 he left the drums because of his growing interest in guitar, especially after an intense listening of Images and Words by Dream Theater. Today, he's a guitar player, a composer and an arranger. He worked for a lot of artists since. In 2005 he flew to Canada to record James LaBrie's third solo release titled Elements of Persuasion which has become a hit with progressive metal fans. Now member of the James LaBrie band, he put out his first solo record titled There's hope on Feb. 15th 2008 through Lion Music. He's also working on the next LaBrie side project along with Matt Guillory, long time LaBrie companion.

  • amazing technique, a lot of feeling, a fucking great song, marco sfogli is realy a fucking great guitarist

  • Marco is a great guitar player. I love his songs, they have emotion and expression. That means a lot to me because I'm a guitar player and I know how dificult that is, to "show" your emotions playing!

  • Marco is one of my biggest inspirations.. cheers mate

  • In response to all these G3 comments, not that its really a massive deal, but in terms of musicality, songwriting, and especially technique, Marco Sfogli is lightyears ahead of Vai and Satch, no offence to them. Marco is one of the new breed of guitar players, along with the likes of Guthrie Govan and and pretty much every popular fusion player on youtube.

  • @LuKeSoloist He hasn't been on G3, because they probably have never met him, and he only has 1 solo album and is very new to the scene relatively. Andy timmons has never been on G3 with them either, and He of anyone should be an eligible candidate

  • That's what she said!

  • @LuKeSoloist totally agreed with you bro!!!

  • Italians have a very soulful and technical way of expressing music. They are masters of guitar.

  • The only reason why G3 haven't got Marco on board is because they're SCARED of him. I know many people may argue otherwise, but Marco 's songs speak more to me than any Satch or Vai song. Yeah Marco is a great guitarist, but he's one heck of a songwriter too, that should never be overlooked, technique can only take you so far! :D
