It seems a bit odd that aliens would come to earth, bury tripod war machines in the ground 100's if not 1000's of years before modern man settled there only to retrieve the tripods to harvest the recourses and terraform earth into their own world only after man had settled and consumed much of what the earth had to offer already. Kind of an unnecessary effort.

@hop208 it was the director's way of trying something that other alien invasion films hadnt in the past. obviously now it doesnt look like such a good idea. he was trying to tell a classic story in a unique way. dont get me wrong, i still think the movie is crap, even though the effects are nice. the character rachel makes me want to sterilize the entire human race though...

@hop208 you do realise that the aliens came to earth to harvest humans specifically, kind of makes sense that they'd let us breed into the billions before they came to harvest us :P

@hop208 Actually if you think about it it actually makes sense. You wait for the crop to grow before you harvest it. They came to Earth to harvest the human population, they probably had to arrive "now" ( C21) because our numbers were large enough but our technology was also getting to dangerously advanced levels. If it weren't for their shields we'd have won easily.
