This love song is about a transcendentalist American sailor who falls in love with a Chinese woman when Chinese women weren't allowed to read or write and their secretive cryptic writing was used, "nu shu". Transcendentalism meets a discussion about the I Ching, Chinese mysticism and the similarities bring this couple together :) The metaphors are are adapted to "modern life".
