SRAM Apex is the latest road componentry groupset from SRAM that borrows technologies from SRAMs Tour de France conquering RED gruppo, including DoubleTap (one lever two shifts), Reach Adjust (for custom lever fit), Exact Actuation (for consistent and precise shifts), and Zero-Loss shifting (for immediate shift engagement).

The double compact chainrings (50/34) are only the beginning, the innovation that went into making Apex the perfect gruppo for every challenge includes the new long cage rear derailleur (RD) matched perfectly to SRAMs new PG 1050 11-32 tooth cassette, we call it WiFLi technology

  • @metalkrush77 : It's about equivalent to Shimano 105.

  • If you use 11-32 cassette, you can go with single front chain ring pretty much anywhere.

I can't to tell how much I hate front derailers(Sheldon Brown spelling).

  • What bikes come with this group, if any?

  • this group is only under 500 thats not bad at all... im thinking of buying this now

  • @murfl That's exactly what it is.

  • @Crich775 I just put this gruppo on my bike, and it feels exactly like Rival. I think that it's even a great alternative to the 105 gruppos.

  • amen, unless you tour, there is no need a a triple, but this is funny to me, soing as my 1982 trek has the same basic gearing, only with 12 speeds, it is a lot like the "sport touring" bikes of the 70's and 80's.

  • @murfl I think its a great value alternative that will compete very well with tiagra and sora, but at the same time pros are using it for hill stages.

  • @Crich775 i know its not a track gruppo. just a lot of hype over a little gearing...just call it rival for hills/old people.

  • @murfl This isnt a track gruppo, your not on a track bike, not to mention internal gearing cant be swapped out the way a cassette and chainring can.
