Day 5 of "No Cone" challenge... My hair is loving having no cones in it. It seems to be absorbing and retaining moisture much better than when it's coated with silicones, primarily Dimethicone.

How I achieved the wet & go look with no-cone products:
1. moisturized night before using bagging method
2. wet hair in shower with warm water (no manipulation)
3. smoothed in mix of Trader Joe's Nourish Spa & V05 condish (did not detangle)
4. smoothed in EVOO
5. quick rinse with cold water to seal cuticle
6. squeezed excess water with hands being careful not to disturb curl pattern
7. smoothed in Aloe Vera Gel
8. gave hair a nice shake

After sleeping on a satin pillowcase (no bonnet or scarf), my next day hair wasn't bad. The curl definition was still there when I woke up and hair is soft. I just refreshed curls with my leave-in, smoothed in some EVOO to seal, then splashed & smoothed in some cold water while at the sink to get the curls to pop!

btw... If you like my "Lego" heart pin, and want one for yourself or to give as a gift, email my friend Jay.

  • Hi ShidaNatural. I recently came across a couple of your videos, and I heard before watching your videos, great things about the no cone method. Im just wondering, is the no cone method for dry hair? My grandma has dry hair, mainly from color dying too much, and I'm doing some research on it so i can help her out. I want her to have healthy hair.

  • @hattersuffa The no cone method is excellent for dry hair. In fact, my hair has retained more moisture since going no cone. If your grandmother uses shampoo, have her shampoo on the 1st wash only concentrating mainly on the scalp. Then on the 2nd and any subsequent washes, do a co-wash (washing with conditioner), cleansing the hair in a smoothing motion rather than a vigorous motion.

  • Luvs your hair and outfit. When I get rolling in the dough I'm going to beg you to let me hire you for style advice!

  • ha ha

  • Your hair is doing very well I recently updated my pic too, no more damaged hair for me. It is amazing what not using a comb can do to your hair.

  • You go girl!

  • So true. Def trail l& error to find out what our hair likes. I can doeverything to my hair and I only get coils on ends and straight-hair kinks in the rest. My son absolute needs gel to cut frizz. His curls pop with just water and gel, but condish helps with definition too. I gave up trying to coax curls outta my youngest with 2 type waves & accepted she can get temp sprials with bantus. No more wasted products trying to curl it. My eldest daughters are like their bro: water + gel = curls pop.

  • Sorry for responding so late... I like Day 3 & beyond hair when it hasn't been detangled... seems like my curls pop more and are more defined.

  • Extra Virgin Oive Oil

  • Hi what is the EVOO?
