As the pre-production versions of the Chevrolet Volt come together, check out how the body shop molds the body of the car together and how the vehicle gets primed in the paint lab.
Imagine what GM could've accomplished if they kept production of the EV 1. Present day cars are the same thing done over and over again. The chevy volt sets itself apart from everyday cars and trucks -- even other hybrids! GM would've done the 4th or 5th generation EV 1 by now ; if it were not to some stupid decision making.
@TranCendenZ Back in the the day Cadillac was 'Your fathers car' or 'Old farts car' now that the bling-bling set have to drive them, they are cool.. Same with this car.. just give it time
@wasjunk If overnight all the 24hr gas stations disappeared, i think that would counteract the load from charging cars. Building power stations would create jobs in long term with maintenance of those plants and staff. They dispose of the batteries much like all vehicle batteries today, grind them up, sort out the lead, batch the acid and recycle. Only time will tell if the costs of ownership of this vehicle is a high cost or not.
This is the last opportunity GM has to make it up right for the EV-1 owners and to successfully overtake Toyota's place as the biggest car maker in the world again. If they screw this up, There will be no Escalade, CTS-V, SRX, Camaro or even all the bailouts in the world that will save them.
Metal is not even close to be being dead. The physical properties of metal still annihilate any take of polymer. Aluminium`s yield strength is much better then the everyday polymer.
Don`t exactly know what you are talking about cast iron. Most cars have very little if any iron parts. Get your information straight.
Still using the wrong material? Don't you know that you can now heat mold prefabricated Kevlar - Nylon panels as easy and cost effectively as you mold the old crap iron? But then, you are not even using aluminum yet. Better start looking for new jobs or use some new technologies. Metal is dead! Too heavy.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
It's a plain boring car that has already been dubbed "Grandma's electric vehicle" by automobile analysts.
