In response to the controversial health reform legislation H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, which narrowly passed the House on Saturday, November 7 by a vote of 220 to 215, CHT Founder Newt Gingrich discusses Title 1, Section 101, subsection (h)(2), found on pages 25-26 of the bill. The provision applies in a situation of insufficient funds for high risk individuals and reads:
If the Secretary estimates for any fiscal year that the aggregate amounts available for payment of expenses of the high-risk pool will be less than the amount of the expenses, the Secretary shall make such adjustments as are necessary to eliminate such deficit, including reducing benefits, increasing premiums, or establishing waiting lists.
I'm sorry - rising healthcare costs have got to be brought under control BUT, I don't want a bunch of politicians deciding my families medical future. I don't care if they are Dems or Repubs. Wanna tackle cost containment? Fine, do it. Leave the rest alone...

Go to your Canadian news station. No one is forcing you to listen.
See how the republican reads off the bill and libs throw a fit. We know Canadian health system sucks. AGAIN, We do NOT want the gov't into our PRIVATE LIVES and making the DESICIONS, as a DOCTOR SHOULD!!!!!!

What the hell are you talking about - "willing to die to save a couple of grand". What a goofy statement.
America needs the insurance reforms in this bill.
If you wait for the perfect bill, or for Republicans to solve the problem - it ain't gonna happen.

Average wait time for non-urgent CAT scan is around two & 1/2 weeks, but can vary by province.
When my wife had an aneurysm she received a CAT scan immediately.
Sorry for any dispersion of your character. I was in the heat of Utube debate with a couple of real "cry socialism" loonies (on Utube - go figure) and perhaps too quickly tarred you with the same brush.

look, im not quesitoning your character, and i certainly don't appreciate the assault on mine. He requires a CAT scan... not surgery.. but reading your other posts on here, i think this argument is an effort in futility. Canada's health system (which is bankrupt btw) doesn't have drugs because it can't afford them, same problem with the NHS in the UK, that isn't propaganda, those are true and I challenge you to dispute that fact. Can we agree there is rationing?

As for your "Dad's example", forgive me for thinking your may be a lying sack of shit.
But it's easily provable - what type of surgery does he supposedly need. it's easy enough to research the average wait times for any particular type of surgery.

If I wanted to hear the usual garbage propaganda, I'd just tune into Fox News.

I seem to recall that the Republican's tried to stop American seniors from getting the same drugs at lower cost in Canada.
Drug companies market their drugs in as many country's as they can. Drugs are only banned in Canada if they have not proven in clinical trials to do the things they claim to do, or have unacceptably harmful effects.

No, 80some percent of the people have insurance. Those that do not, wanting a public option is understandable, but will not cover more than half of them, and penalize those that don't do something, and all of us will be penalized because all of our rates will have to go up. Worse, the mandates give us no real freedoms. It does not work out to be a public option free of harm! And further, the government is already riddled with corruption. This will add to the corruption!

your first point is valid, protections are needed.
i disagree with your second point, having treatment is better than not having any treatment at all, if your willing to die to save a couple grand... thats your choice but dont impose it on me!
Universal healthcare is a noble goal, i think if you ask the average american if they are willing to pay some more so others can have it, they probably would.. can we afford it NOW? probably not...
