China requests Nepal to tighten Nepal-China border

With the Olympics going to be held in China in September and the torch rally to Everest next month, the Chinese government has requested Nepal to tighten the Nepal-China border and not allow any anti-China activities. Let me state unequivocally. I have nothing but utmost respect for the Gurkha soldiers!!

My dad gave me a first hand account of their bravery in Burma during the 2nd WW.

However, it's very unfortunate that they fought other peoples war mainly for their own economic reasons.

Jangbahadur Jana was the man responsible for crimes against his own people! If they only had known the truth then. Military might has been over emphasized at the expense of good academic education.

Jangbahadur Jana??? Go read up to find out who he was. Oh yes a little note, much earlier, when the Nepalese tried to invade Tibet, the Chinese army drove them back and pursued them to within 45km of Kathmandu! Nepal had to pay a tribute to the Chinese from 1790 until 1908!

During the Indian Mutiny around 1850s the Gurkhas STUPIDLY fought alongside the British against the Indian mutineers and lost thousand of their own lives, the same British that drove the Gurkhas from Sikkim and the terai west of Kali river. If not for that evil alliance, India would have been independent almost a century earlier. Why did the Gurkhas fight alongside the British? Because sometime earlier, Jangbahadur Jana lived and partied for a whole year in London. Many of his men died in vain.
