In my opinion the Pledge of Allegiance should either be changed for current times, or done away with forever. Those who are hopping mad to defend it, don't even know the damned history about it. It was originally written for solidarity of school kids, and first plublished in a kids magazine before the turn of the century. And all the hard core right wingers out there disgusted by the current socialism propaganda don't realize it was written by a self described Christian Socialist. LOL Irony.

To think... it all started in 1892 for an article in a magazine for kids [fact]. The pledge even underwent 4 additional revisions till it became what is now [fact]. It was intended to instill comradre among children in school to celebrate Collumbus day [fact]. Originally written by the cousin of a known utopian socialist follower [fact]. There was even a salute know as Bellamy salute [fact]. Later changed since it was seen as like Hitler Nazi salute [fact]. Research it. Is interesting stuff.
