Hey, I'm not the only one that thinks Node programmers are hipsters!

I work for a bank now who want to move from MSSQL to NOSQL. I love using mongo appropriately but dam it I had to explain to them that their data IS relational. It really is better off where it is. The answer I got. . . We'll have more space in a datastore.

Thats it I'm out of here

Many people consider Lisp a great language for many reasons but it has never caught on as a popular language. A common criticism of Lisp is that the syntax is alien - 'too many parentheses'. The point is that people focus on superficial elements/style over substance; node.js is 'hip' so people go along with it without understanding the benefits/tradeoffs.

    I pick "false dilemma".

I also pick "You're ignorant, and you should avail yourself of an education"

The effectiveness of democratic participatory planning is quite strong, as is evident in various open source projects, scientific research, and even in businesses (e.g., worker's cooperatives like John Lewis Partnerships and worker managed firms such as Semco).

As for motivations in people other than yourself, google "Jonas Salk" and "polio vaccine".

    > production is democratically planned

Mob rule is a great idea!

    > against totalitarianism rather than communism

I'm against both, because it's not possible to have communism without totalitarianism. People want to work for themselves more than they want to work for someone else. Communism inherently kills all forms of innovation, as well, because why would you bother saying you could be making a new thing if there'll never be any new value for you?

I know that theft and murder are bad, and I also know that communism, a classless society where production is democratically planned, isn't the worst idea possible. Go read the Manifesto and have a look at the 10-point plan. Whilst some of proposals are clearly disagreeable and dated, much of it isn't.

I suggest that your motivation is against totalitarianism rather than communism. Whilst there are plenty of examples where the two have correlated, they are not the same thing.

Hi. Communism is the worst idea anyone ever had. Stealing from those who produce and giving some of the proceeds to those who don't is a very poor motivator. Every time communism and other forms of extreme stateism have been tried, it has resulted in massive killings, human rights violations, and has caused all those it is forced on to suffer. With all of your degrees, you should know that theft and murder are bad.
