Xing Yi Spear: Master Derek Cheng

On May 20th 2007 we had the pleasure of attending the 20th Anniversary Gala of The International Wushu Sashou Dao Association and The Shouyu Liang Wushu Taiji (Tai Chi) Qigong Institute at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver British Columbia.

Very nice preformance. I would take it easy with the stomping, but maybe it was meant to give a greater impression in the demo.

WOW! Awesome form! But, the Spear seems very long!

so far ...he's the best I had seen, even not many Chinese from China did what he did here..Awesome is the word.

Look how he handle the spear by his rear hand ...this is the correct way of handling long weapon. the foot stomping is to increase the penetration.

But not many ppls do a slant trace of 10 degree tilt! most of them completes with a str trace.

But well done..this master is good!

The design I just talk about is the fajin mechanism. What I mean is not so clear.

The body is bow, Spear is arrow 古有明示. Where is the shooting (fajin) in the film? Recommended to practice and perceive the deep meanings and fajin in Bow and Arrow first. An outstanding performance will occur once learning and knowing how. Looking forward to your great improvement.

If Xing Yi Spear is like this, I will feel disappointed. Meaningless stepping on the floor to vibrate the head of the spear and shaft. Obviously, do not know where the spear design was coming from in the history.The spear was used as same as arrow in Martial Art at the wartime. It is the king of all short-distance weapons 槍王. It may only lose to long sword(real long sword length is 6-8 feet) 劍為武器之靈.
