Noam Chomsky: WikiLeaks Cables Reveal "Profound Hatred for Democracy on the Part of Our Political Leadership"

In a national broadcast exclusive interview, we speak with world-renowned political dissident and linguist Noam Chomsky about the release of more than 250,000 secret U.S. State Department cables by WikiLeaks. In 1971, Chomsky helped government whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg release the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret internal U.S. account of the Vietnam War. Commenting on the revelations that several Arab leaders are urging the United States to attack Iran, Chomsky says the latest polls show "Arab opinion holds that the major threat in the region is Israel, that's 80 percent; the second threat is the United States, that's 77 percent. Iran is listed as a threat by 10 percent... This may not be reported in the newspapers, ... but it's certainly familiar to the Israeli and the U.S. governments and to the ambassadors... What that reveals is the profound hatred for democracy on the part of our political leadership."

"Muster"? I would say they use a lot more influence and pressure than muster.

Is Iran going to be another "weapons of mass destruction" fiasco. Is there really some other deeper alterior motive here? I'm not taking sides with Iran...It's like a CNN reporter said...keeping them honest (US politics).

@mojorhythm for me he is just ignorant and manipulator..... who cares who killed Kennedy?? who did 9/11???? of course i care because this events changed the course of history ...... this are the main questions that need to be answered if we would like to change the wrong things..... i have a constant headache and i can not work ..... so i have to find the reason of my headache to fight it and start working ,,,,,,, instead of talking about my working inability

@berletka I watched the whole thing. He was not referring to 9/11 as such, just the conspiracy theories behind it. He is insinuating that the United States is still a fascist, imperial superpower, regardless of whether or not it was behind the 9/11 attacks. The atrocities still horrify him to this day.

You can email him and ask him about it if you like. I have emailed him many times with all sorts of questions. He responds to every message that he gets.

since i heard from him "who cares" about 9/11 i do not trust chomsky any more. he was an authority to me but now i recognised him as a snake.
