Well, if they have tragic pasts, are perfect at EVERYTHING, can act as much as a jerk or whiny as they want and still be the most popular/loved (unless the author goes for the outcast everyone hates for no reason angle) and if she and the main boy fall in love instantly with absolutely no reason for it and no question to the depths of that love, it's usually a mary-sue. Think Bella from Twilight. She's perfect at being a vampire, has every guy wanting her, and is a terrible friend yet popular.

@puppytrails2121 or those of us who have written a mary sue . . . will admit she was like that. I remember making one in a roleplaying forum thing, she was the princess of darkness who was apparently ansem's granddaughter who uses darkness and a scyth or whatever. What the hell was I thinking then -_- . . . she annoys me now

Don't forget to add that this orphan fairy princess girl who lost her memory is also a warrior/angel/demon/mermaid/va­mpire/prostitute/who is good at cooking. To make her perfect . . . she somehow has to be perfect in every way. Has many super powers, but somehow can't use them after falling and breaking her ankle even though she can heal and fly XD
