  • you keep her in a cage?

  • @lovok123

When we're not home Georgie has a cage to stay in. Since she's almost completely blind we cannot let her be free in the house unsupervised. Elmo isn't blind so he has the bedroom to himself when we're not in.

  • I used to do this all the time with my pigeon, but i dont want to risk having her cloaca prolapse again, it happened twice because she laid soft eggs frequently. :c Still, I love your pigeons they're so beautiful.

  • @Luigithehomie91

Prolapses are very serious unfortunately, so you are right not to encourage any egg laying. :( Thankfully, my female pigeon doesn't lay eggs very often. I give her mineral and vitamin suppliments to help with strong egg development.

  • Untill a Racing pigeon (Rossi Pigeon) came to live with me a year ago i never realised how entertaining they were. They are clever social animals but they keep on breaking the First Rule! The keep on talking and now we have over 25 that i call the Supper club that come for food on thier way home to the roost over the last year they have eaten over 80Kgs of food but There are some beautiful colours and patterns out there.

LOL! Yes, pigeons do spread the word and invite their friends round for dinner! :)

  • @PigeonsAsPets Throughout her life when she hit about 1-1/2 years old she began to lay eggs, and frequently too, like twice a month sometimes. Thankfully she took her both times to have surgery and its been about a month now and shes fine, ive been trying to find good minerals and stuff to feed her. They said it was cus of her low calcium diet

Both of our pigeons are disabled and cannot fly properly, however, we do take them outside in the summer (with a bird harness on or they have time in a big run in the garden).

  • do u ever take him outside? if so does he fly back to u? interesting pet compared to a budgie or wotever , especially if u can give him freedom outside

  • @DrazaKhan

Thanks, yes, Elmo and George love to be with us! We get plenty of cuddles and kisses from them.

Your pigeon sounds lovely. Would love to see a photo of him! :)
