I'd met Julian Dashper, through an introduction from David Raskin an Associate Professor at the Art Institute of Chicago. Julian had been a fan of the James Kalm Report and wanted to meet me when he visited New York. During a studio visit it became apparent to me that Julian was a totally authentic artist, and enthusiast, a rare commodity in the jaded Big Apple art scene. I invited him to accompany me to the Mary Heilmann retrospective at the New Museum the next morning. He showed up early, and we chatted about the work on video. Later, during the editing, I revisited Julian's mugging and joking. I started laughing, Now Julian is gone, I still laugh, but with the realization that this kind of joy was one of Julian's greatest gifts to us. Includes an interview with Matthew Deleget.

  • It's strange to have an object who contain a voice of person just dead. Seam a substitute of him, if he was alive was just a phone.
