If our grandfathers enslaved the jewish 3000 years ago the Israiles killing our brothers in palaston at the the moment and killed our war prisoners over ages what afair world,,,,

It is funny that a lot of comments are about Hitler and Nazis just because this song is in german. BUT nobody talks about the Egyptian and how they killed and enslaved the people in this movie. o_O
I guess in 50 or 100 years nobody will talk about Hitler anymore....just like the Egyptian and the Jews, the American and the Indian or the black slaves.

Poor thing <3 Schade.
German people (as a whole) are lovely <3 once you get to know them, you're like.. family. x3
There is no race in this world that is evil, and no race is superior to everyone else. We're all human first people. We should band together against evil like Hitler and try to conserve our world and help others instead of splitting up over ignorance and hate.
^^ Zen Seren *wiggly fingers* Thank you for the nice comment :)

@mustangdreamer55 Aww :( Atleast u can put them in their place ! lol :) I had that happen to my German penpal that came over to the UK 5 years ago.. some twats in my school were giving the Nazi hand gesture to her and calling her Nazi + scum etc, she took it really personally and was actually quite upset, not the image I wanted my poor exchange partner to leave with about Brits! People are so ignorant + its people like that who I would love to be sent back to the War an see how it really was.

Try walking into an (backcountry american) school and the first thing you here is "You're a Nazi! You have dead Jewish babies in your closet!)
"Oh? That's funny, considering I have Jewish background."
*Dead silence*
"Sheizekopfs. Erst denken, dann reden." (Sh**heads. First think, then speak.)
Honestly, you get used to it. XD

You know (to all the commenters out there) there were polish, czech, austrian nazis... american too.
Also, none of you have seen grown men collapse at Dachau crying from the horror. The german civilians didn't know what was going on- the few that did, if they tried to stand up, would have been killed themselves.
Its easy to talk big, but if it had been your life, you wouldnt have done anything.
And those Jews spoke German themselves.

the german language is not inherently antisemitic or evil as many people here claim. two decades of nazism maybe make people think that germans are inherently evil and dangerous but that's just succumbing to the illusion that all Germans were nazis which is not true. to now turn around and say Germans should not be allowed to enjoy this 1000 year old story in their own language is risible, if not outright intolerant and racist.
-
@DonMrLenny Yes, because two horrible decades out of thousands of years of history of the Germanic people means that it's ironic that a song about a story integral to a religion practiced by millions of Germans would be sung in German.
Deutsch ist nicht eigensicherin antiSemitisch; die stolzesten Deutschen waren diejenigen, die ihr Leben gaben, um den Nazismus zu kämpfen.
-
I always thought of the awful German language to sing, but is very sweet
-
how ironic rofl
...so this song is sung in German. And because its sung in German people are commenting about Nazis, even though there is absolutely ZERO CONNECTION between this clip and Nazis except that its being sung in German.
I wish I could kick people in the face over the Internet.

FYI, the voice of Yocheved, Ofra Haza (RIP) was Israeli and Jewish and CLEARLY didn't have a problem singing this song in German, so at least she believed in forgiveness, peace, and the difference between the past and the present unlike some of the people commenting. Not that she dismissed the Holocaust (see her song "Trains of No Return"), but she didn't hold it against the German people and their culture, she held it, like others should, against a blind and evil government that is no more.
