AV-8 Harrier - RC Jet Turbine Power

This is Ewald Schuster's AV-8B Harrier. All the mechanics are good to go. He's just working out the bugs and testing the Pegasus, so he can take the plunge and go for it.

  • does it hover?

  • @Dracoken2000 the airframe for it does. it's just getting the balance right at this point. did you not watch the video?

  • @b101aa2 i didn't get to see all of it but thanks! and btw how much did the rc plane cost?

  • @Dracoken2000 Ya, it was the last part of the video. Cost? it's Ewald's plane. He's built it from scratch, and built the turbine as well. Cost is his time. He's no DIY guy either.

  • why do you call it vtol when the actual harrier is a vstol?

  • because i did. i don't split hairs between vstol or vtol. and besides, who watches videos name vstol, when everyone knows it as vtol.

  • Harrier (RIP) Is a true VTOL aircraft and has been since its inception ( as was FORGER the USSR copy)

If an RC true copy (as opossed to a VSTOL) aircraft, I'd defineately applaude! You tube needs a well done accolade just for this alone!!!

  • @b101aa2 are you using spong's non linear methods for controling the vtol?. I did some simulations and the guy is spot on the models. He even shows themodel for that plane that starts as a helicopter and then moves the wings toward the front to become an airplane .. (don't know the name)

  • @Dracoken2000 You didn't "get" to see all of a one minute video but you had time to type a question. lol

  • good

  • Reminds me of GTA:San Andreas... back when rockstar made gta games that were fun.

  • i'm guessing the stability issues are from the reaction thrusters, do you know if some kind of giro is being used?

  • @waynerd23 Harrier can take off and land vertical but for operational reasons it normally uses a short take off run to save fuel and increase payload/take off weight

  • that is fantastic ive been dreaming this for many years keep going

  • It would of been better if it was a hover take off.

  • can't wait for the fireball.
