No. He only eats the flower representing the royal family of japan. Together with money they represent his utter hate for Japan and it's people.

i think merde was representing the "inhumanity".
he was careless and inconsiderate, killing people and stuff. he lived on eating "flowers" (representing the nature) and cash (representing money). merde in a sense was driven by money and destroying nature maybe? maybe not...
I've never seen anything like this film. It was highly enjoyable!
