not the point. If the city cannot recognise the historical significance, and beauty of this instrument, then they certainly do not deserve to own it, especially when they want it to decay.
And yes i believe sf is a beautiful city, but taxation is heavy there, and liberty is trampled.

Vic: This is a truly insightful and interesting documentary on the remarkable PPIE organ. San Francisco is about to lose another historic organ in the First Church of Christ, Scientist. There is a concert October 26, 2008, at 2 pm. I hope you will find time to document this exceptional Kimball organ.

@SanFransisco The Fox Theater was destroyed in 1963, and now this?! It's absolutely deplorable. Wake up!

Thanks. Very interesting.

Very interesting. My friend actually owns one of the two four-manual consoles this organ had.

Let we hope for the best for this outstanding organ.
The video dies about half-way through (during the part about the succession of curators from the Shoenstein company.

Good to know that this famous (Edwin H. Lemare-organ so to speak) is well preserved. Let we hope for the best and that once this organ will be on the original place, sounding...
Thanks for this outstanding video.
Was all the organ music we heared played on this organ or...?

@Improvisata This instrument needs a community to rally around it and find a way to bring it back to public use. It is fully restored and waiting to be setup. All music is from various recordings of other organs used with permission.

It goes to show how stupid the city gets when it comes to a beautiful instrument. Some people do find a way to house a pipe organ in a house. But with the limited space in an average size house, it's very difficult to house such a large instrument. Not only the pipes, but also with the concade pedalboard, they can reach out quite a ways.

@Streetcar1743 The worst thing that can happen to a pipe organ is to "temporarily" remove it from its location for restoration. Once a pipe organ is removed from a building, nefarious forces will conspire to make sure it does not come back.
