  • What a nasty, ominous, groove...go Sean Rickman! Q: Why doesn't this stuff come out on DVD? A: Probably because it wouldn't be cost effective since the majority of people seem to be too undemanding about their entertainment...the lowest common denominator rules....

  • I was thinking asking it to the TV that broadcasted it, or to the festival that recorded it, but I doubt it will lead somewhere. I doubt even Steve Coleman could get the recording.

  • Inche Steve esta muy perro!!!!!!

    tremendo videito!

  • 'On the Edge of Tomorrow' (1986) is a great album. Is this 7/8 (x2) or 14/8?

  • yeah i hear you. is that the album where he kind of narrates in kind of a mystical stuff like "Hail Shahpana- . . . . hail Perius . . . etc" ? man that is a hell of an album isnt it. will def chek out Sign and the Seal . . . i'd never heard of that one for some reason . .

  • hot fives and sevens?? you could look at it like that I suppose, but Coleman is not an "entertainer" as such, though it certainly is entertaining music he produces! : ) The Sign and the Seal is pretty unique, the blend of Santeria, jazz funk, and rap all melds into some kind of crazy mystical brew, or something like that! Almost all of the old stuff is now free on the MBASE website, went there now to check, it was The Sonic Language of Myth not Ascension to Light i stopped at, good album.

  • thanks for your thoughts. i will def check out Sign and the seal for sure. his stuff is hard to find i been finding around london. will try find some on line. i always used to thing Rhythm People was somehow todays classic hot fives and sevens . you dig?

  • not really : ) these are things you are supposed to know if rhythm is you thing!

Rhythm People was the first one I heard, when it came out, the title cut is probably my favourite piece, the earlier albums with Smitty Smith are my preference, after that Sign and the Seal, which is awesome, then Ascension to Light, haven't bought anything since that one, was tiring of the sound by then. Prefer all the 5 piece stuff generally.
