A countries development is measured by how it treats it's poor not it's rich. When you boast of the millionaires (the Ambanis, the Azims, the Murthys), it only serves to highlight the deep divide between the haves and the have-nots that your neo-liberal policies have served to create over the years. I don't think anyone is impressed by that.. Save it for your fellow nationalists.

Let me remind you that India is ranked 134 in terms of the Human Development Index. That puts you far behind countries like China (92), Maldives (95), Sri Lanka (102) and even Palestine (110). Yet, I see some nationalist Indians getting all defensive about it and going on about how they have so many millionaires and so many IT companies etc. etc. None of it matters when you consider the fact that a third of the world's poor population are in India.

I was commenting on the general condition of the infrastructure the entire country. By those standards, certainly India doesn't have it better than the US. It doesn't matter if the ultra-modern infrastructure you speak of is only enjoyed by a small minority of the population when the rest of the country scrapes by with nothing.
