Taiwan, land of the scooters ... many parents use them to transport their children but lack common sense, responsibility ... doing it witghout having them wear a helmet

No, I don't get it ... I get it that you have no clue how many children and adults die or get crippled every year in Taiwan by wearing no helmets ...

And believe me, it's not their only means of transport, they have the means and money for cars, they just choose to because it's convenient, but by doing doing so adults should secure the health or lives of their children, and parents should make sure that in case of an accident that they don't make their children orphans ...

That is their only means of transportation, a scooter. That is the way it is in many asian countries. Stop trying to 'Westernize' the whole world. My state in the US (Illinois) where I live in does not have helmet laws. It is optional. Some people choose to wear them some do not. Stop being a nanny let people decide for them selves, it is called liberty. Get it?

Unbelivable........ I do have a maxi scooter and my 11 year old girl do ride with me ofthen. I could not imagin her without an helmet! poor asien culture.

In Finland recently there was a law that allows under 15 years old travel on the motorbike without helmet. But for decades I haven`t seen it happens. But there is still a law that bans over 12 year old pillion passenger in scooter/moped. Due to that pillion passengers in scooters often dont wear a helmet. -Because if Police stops then its considered commitment if the helmet is on the head or, at least, you will be fined anyway.

Where are the cops in all this? If I rode without a helmet or with more than one passenger on a scooter, half the cops in the area would be chasing me. If I had a passenger without a helmet, they'd chase me even quicker for endangering another. I don't like a helmet nor see a clear need to wear one every single time, but it is the law and a helmet is realistically needed most of the time. The latter would include the busy streets these people are riding in.
