I reckon that we are too reliant on our allies to defend us.
We are the only deterrent that is stoping Indonesia from going Gun-Ho on East Timor.
If we don't have faster plains, stealthier subs or more Elite troops, Half of Oceania will turn into a dictatorship.
Not saying that we would survive long in the big blue sea without the Yanks, if we were in a Proper war we would be stuffed. Saying that, 70% of the USMC that were in Indonesia in ww2 bolted. Except that was an age ago.

Like I said in 2000 during the whole East Timor thing the United States does nothing about East Timor its "cowardly Americans, retreating back into isolationism hiding behind two oceans, unwilling to talk a moral stand." The United States does something in East Timor its "blood thirsty war mongering Americans you ask you to always play police the world? You are after nothing but Indo light sweet crude"

The US is committed to the freedom Australia, and would likely come to her aid as we did in WW2. But that does not mean that Australia should not be responsible and prudent enough to defend her self adequately. I don't think you need to break the bank, just don't put yourselves in a precarious situation please.

Why spend millions of dollars on training systems the USAF already have. They train the initial staff, then the initials train the rest. Dont forget, this was filmed before the first Australian C17 was even delivered...
