  • Sorry for the long post, it is posted in reverse order.

  • I thought then this burg is going to get screwed. And that's well on it's way. I wonder where they are going to get the water for the 6000 houses their going to build here? That's back when I thought Barstow was no more than a pit stop on the way to Vegas.

  • As Victorville, Phelan, Apple Valley grow exponentially, guess where all of their water comes from? I had the opportunity in 89 or 90 to thumb a 4 foot thick brief concerning the water under Barstow and that area 35 miles south of us wanted more of it.

  • A meaningless police report, a meeting with your insurance adjuster, only in some cases to be told your home was non occupied and their company is not liable for the loss and you will not be compensated, 8 to 10 thousand out of your pocket, higher insurance rates and last but not least many sleepless nights for fear of it happening all over again, and in all likelihood will after you have it repaired. Yes, Barstow California, a lovely place indeed........

  • the city and the county of course get their cut, the electrician pays his mortgage, buys food, pays his bills, the same with the supplier and the local scrap dealer and the dirt bag? He buys more drugs in order to keep the cycle going. See how it works?

Oh, I forgot one minor detail, guess what you get?

  • Here might be a warped scenario somebody's thinking of. Economics! Think about the beauty of it. Your house gets striped of it's electrical system. You have to have it repaired. You call the local electrician, he buys from the local wire supplier, the dirt bag sells the wire to the local scrap buyer for $2.06 per #, he sells it in Long Beach for $3.60 per #,

  • Here's a little tip I got through the grapevine. They have to first strip off of the insulation in order to sell it to the scrap dealers, they don't want it with the insulation, so either they have to set for hours and physically remove it or just take it out in the hills south of 40 and Yermo / Daggett road on the back road to Lucerne Valley and burn it up in the hills on a dark night.

  • Copper ground wire off of power poles, sub stations, transformers, they saw down the poles to get to the transformers, don't leave a house stand empty for any amount of time these homers will strip out all of the Romex out of it. Repeater towers, cell stations anything they can get to, they will strip it clean.

  • These people used to collect cans and bottles for the redemption value until copper got so high. Now it's a no brainer, copper is everywhere and it's easy for the pickens. I noticed the church at Opel and Amory that one of these Jones's snagged the AC condenser off of the side of the building.

  • This copper problem is directly connected to scrap dealers. There was a bill in Sacramento to register all copper sales in the state in order to curb this activity. The scrap dealers lobby in Sac was heavy and the bill was struck down. However though that doesn't stop municipalities from adopting their own ordnances, but I guess the city counsel doesn't see this of any great importance here.
