Hmmm, Saying Tesco or Asda may appeal to the taget voters a bit more than "waitrose or sainsburys".

People who live off the welfare state all their lives really can't be considered 'Working Class', because quite frankly they don't work.
Small shops are not always more expensive than supermarkets. They are in the West Country because they think it some sort of novelty. In London small shops can be cheaper. And when it comes to buying fresh Fruit and Veg, than the smaller shops definitely have the better quality. Whereas the supermarkets only sell bland foods and a lot of junk.

Poor people are supported by society, so when they cause society more trouble by drinking, fighting or having teenage pregnancies ect, they cost society even more money. Middle class people contribute to society and so their poor behavior doesn't cause as much damage (in economic terms).
It's also worth noting stereotypes exist for a reason, and people from poor backgrounds are more likely to cause trouble.
Though, in all honesty, i look at all people with ASBO's ect in the same way.

I think the theory is that the super rich provide jobs for the poor. And giving them tax breaks encourages them to start more buisnesses ect, providing more jobs for the poor. Though, I don't know what saving small shops would do, cause then Tesco ect would suffer, thus the poor suffer.
And anyway, theres no such thing as working class anymore; there are people who work and people who don't.

Cameron buying stuff in local shops isn't so unbelievable. He is well off, so he can easily afford to pay the higher prices in small shops.
As for the person below me, maybe you should take the time to notice that there are small shops that aren't newsagents; and even newsagents that aren't run by immigrants. And what exactly is 'the truth' about Muslims? And if you hate them so much, why not move? What inconvenience do they cause you anyway, other than selling you the telegraph?

WELL THATS how things is. THE ONLY reason PPL go to a LOCAL store is because it is CLOSE BY. WHY bother, when the goods are EXACTLY the same but are more EXPENSIVE than in SUPERMARKETS? And tbh, small shops have better SERVICE!? not really.

ASDA!? HE PROBALY shops at HARRODS Food Section!

maybe working class people should stop having (badly behaved, ASBO-receiving, rude) kids that they can't afford.
I'm delighted to see that the Conservatives are standing up for our small businesses. They are so full of personality and such a delight to go to compared to these national chains that lack any sort of individuality and where workers seem to lack the enthusiasm and interest which you find in small shops. Keep on fighting for our culture Mr Cameron! Give Britain its character again!
