You should listen to her original version, which gained fame in 1986. She sounds even better there and has better orchestral backing.

between Whitney and Sandi Patti, Sandi has a better voice. Drugs do a lot of different thing to your voice--Sandi knows that, she never does drugs. Whitney, on the other hand.. mmmm..

Sandi (the Voice) Patty owns this song. This is without a doubt the only rendition that I truly love and cherish. It makes me proud and honored to be an American. This song that she sings gives me goose bumps galore.

And now, 15 years after even THIS legendary performance, they say her voice is just as pristine! This woman just has the voice that will not quit! She has been called the female David Phelps, but she came before David Phelps, so maybe David Phelps is the male Sandi Patty! LOL
