Finding Box Turtles In Pennsylvania- 2

These are 2 Box Turtles I found on our property on September 1st 2011. I didn't do a clean edit between turtles because I wanted to show you a bit of the environment and give you an idea how close they were to one another. I think by recording it this way it feels like you're really walking through the forest with me and sharing in the discovery!

I considered dubbing in some quiet forest sounds for the background but I decided against it because I like to keep things as real as possible. There is something poignant about observing these natural jewels while the industrious cacophony or urban sprawl echoes in the background. 20 feet away houses are going up and ditches are being dug and the forest is surrendering to steal and concrete. This is the world we live in and that's how I'm presenting it.

I recognize both these turtles, by the way. I think we have about 7 different individuals that inhabit the area and most of them return year after year. You'll notice that I like to offer them fresh blueberries!
