There's not really any good evidence of that. True conservatives have always been for individualism and people getting what they work for. Which is opppsite for Democrats as a whole. Republicans started to go the direction of the Democrats which is why the Libertarian party arose. Libertarians are the true conservatives that once were (and still are today).
