It is not disrespectful to politely correct grammatical errors. If they can't speak correctly what future do you have anyway?

@selmadove Correcting a child's grammar is ok but when you are constantly correcting the actions of your adult partner your are pointing out their flaws. It will not be viewed favorablly trust me.Who appointed you teacher?? lol Speak at this point is developed and maybe ethnic or a cultural difference. Also when you point out a person short comings like ur are superior it denotes non acceptance.

First off I want to say it's great you're doing this, and if I may there's some input I would like to add. As far as belittling someone there's a difference between someone making me feel dumb, and helping me.(i.e) If I say "scrimp" and it's really "shrimp" all in all their helping me! not look bad. All in all I do see where you're coming from. I just feel grammar is something we shouldn't take lightly because it reflects on what kind of individual you are.

The point is u r a grown woman and u r who u r and u don't need anyone correcting your speech. The fact that another feels that they need to correct you denotes feeling of inadequacy and non acceptance of you. At this age will continue to speak as u do. Find someone who can accept your imperfections as you do his. @jayd3339
