40th Engineers from Baumholder left the Hohenfels Training Area after a long therm of training for the up coming deployment for down range. All Tracked vehicles where loaded up on railroad nearby and all Wheeld Vehicles went back on the Autobahn in long Convoys!

  • lol, lead AVLB towing a deadline ACE.

  • In 1971 or 1972 - I forget - we, 1/39 Inf., roadmarched with all our vehicles including tracked ones from Baumholder to Hohenfels/Vielseck in 2.5 or 3.5 days - I forget - & crossed the Rhine River twice - once going to & once on the way back - on assault landing pontoon bridge sections. Butts get sore when driving 10-12 hours in a day, & also your hearing gets bad.
