This gives a detailed reason to not use torrents and if you have a torrent downloader program I recommend that you uninstall it as soon as possible.

Even a safe torrent site I do not recommend as the files are public and still run even after finishing the download.

  • I was using my Mac and downloaded lots of torrents. About a month ago I downloaded another torrent and my Mac just crashed. I was like wtf but nvm. I turned it on and WTF. There was just a rotating question mark instead of the Apple logo and it didn't start up. Fucking torrent gave a MAC a virus :/

It is completely broken. MacBook Pro as well..

  • @Fatal548 Finally someone agrees with me.

  • @Gamedraco Yeah. I think torrents are good in moderation and make sure what you are downloading is legal and 100% safe. I recommend using more than just one anti-virus software and I swear most of the time, McAfee sucks :/

  • @Fatal548 I also have No-Script, WOT and Norton Safe Web as back up protection. No-Script has saved me from a lot of bad sites that could have put bugs on my computer.

  • That's why you don't port forward and always stay behind a firewall. I've been using uTorrent for years and have not once got any viruses inside my computer because even if there was some they never was able to infect my PC because I'm smart that way :)

  • It can happen to anyone. uTorrent is not the problem though, it's the sites that you download torrents from.

  • Torrents are only dangerous if you are careless with using them. That's why I look at the comments when I download torrents to see if it's infected with any viruses or if it's a fake.

  • I have downloaded a lot of torrents and I have never got a virus and most of them were downloaded when I didn’t have free anti virus. Your dad was probably downloading porn from a dodgy torrent site.

  • lol. let me guess when u get a key generator your great program mcafee finds a virus too right? how about going back to school and learn about how to download what and where btw most of the keygens will be detected as a virus even tough they are not.oi!

  • @Fatal548 well first of all don't download torrents from shady sites, read comments on said torrent and look for any saying it's a virus, also don't download lots at a time, maybe one or two at a time at most then you should be good.
