  • What makes this amazing is Donna's use of little nuances to make this character so believable and intricate.... it's SOOOooo studied and yet looks so spontaneous. Blows me away! Doesn't everyone else agree?

  • This is just astounding. I cannot get over it. Every time I watch this video I am more enthralled with this performance. It is so nuanced and so detailed yet so still. She has truly captured this character.

  • Donna Murphy is literally SO. GOOD. I could vomit... I know no words...

  • wow.

  • i could not love this show or this performance more! breathtakingly beautiful...

  • My god such an entrancing character as well as the actress who plays her. The fact that donna murphy can go from this somber, nuanced role to the energetic, albeit a tad quirky Ruth in wonderful town is just ... I'm lost for words!

  • @rlee1976 She is perfection in this role.

  • god ... shes MAGIC! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! i get chills everytime :)

  • WOW. "No captain, i have no illusions. i recognize limits of my dreams. ...The butterfly that stays too long and drinks too deep is doomed to die. ... I do not dwell on dreams...I know how soon a dream becomes an expectation. How can I have expectations? Look at me. No, captain, look at me! Look at me! ... I do not cling to things I cannot keep. The more you cling to things, the more you love them. The more the pain you suffer when they take them from you. Ahhh"

  • 1 person "disliked"??? whoever that was you're an ass!

  • probably the best scene I've ever seen in a musical!

  • @rlee1976 She's utterly stunning.

  • Murphy was born for Sondheim - brilliant actor, amazing voice.

PS The great sadness is that there was never a libretto that matched what SS did with his music.

  • 4:20, my favorite part, so powerful and brilliant.

  • As subtle and interesting as the performance is... I cant help but wonder how anyone HEARD her... even if she was miced she has NO projection.

  • This is so horribly sad, I'm crying!

  • She's actually crying when she's singing this song! AMAZING TALENT!

  • Aw man, Fosca rocks this role!!! I love this musical! *drool*

  • So beautiful =] Incredible!

  • Donna is Perfect for Fosca! So is Jerry as Giorgio

  • My favorite part!

  • this is scene two, not four. :)
