No big throws, or fancy falling just two Aikido black belts trying to give each other a hard time. The emphasis here is not on the guy taking the knife away, but on the other guy keeping and using the knife. This is one of the drills we do at Central valley aikido

  • you guys ever heard of shomen ate! good thing neither of you decided to punch with your live hand!!

  • @caaikiman1 Problem with that is, we couldn't practice much if we did that. Shomen ate is always there, the practice is designed to look at other methods.

  • @ChuShinTani You state above that this drill is "for the guy keeping and using the knife". You barely used the knife and he almost got sankyo and koshi nage on you while you struggled with him. I agree with the principle of this drill, but you have to agree no one is going to just grab your wrist and grapple with you for that long. This is the very first thing I teach a students- expect to get hit by their other hand if you stand there for more than a few seconds.

  • @caaikiman1 He is as good as I am, of coarse he almost got techniques on me. Striking is part of our practice, but is not shown in this drill.

  • honey ill be in the shed with jim dancing by the candel light.
