First broadcast on Jan. 31, 1982 during martial law in Poland. President Ronald Reagan, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Speaker of the House Thomas P. O'Neill, US Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Helmut Schmidt and US Secretary of State Alexander Haig express their support for the solidarity movement. The full film features statements from 15 heads of state or government and 14 other government officials.

Thirty years ago, the United States Information Agency (USIA) worked with private partners to produce a TV film, "Let Poland Be Poland" to show support for the Solidarity movement and the Polish people following the imposition of martial law.

To mark the 30th Anniversary of martial law in Poland and the American response, the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw is posting highlights from the film "Let Poland Be Poland," starting on December 13th.

Przed 30 laty, w geście poparcia dla ruchu Solidarności i narodu polskiego po wprowadzeniu stanu wojennego, United States Information Agency (USIA) we współpracy z partnerami prywatnymi wyprodukowała polityczne show pt. „Żeby Polska była Polską".

W 30. rocznicę wprowadzenia stanu wojennego w Polsce, 13 grudnia 2011 roku, Ambasada USA w Warszawie rozpocznie zamieszczanie na swojej stronie internetowej najciekawszych fragmentów programu „Żeby Polska była Polską".
