This is a video for a contest. And nope I've never really done a video like this before so forgive me if its awful!

So my long boring story of mine and Sage's journey so far.

I've been into horses since I was like 7 when I started 4H. I fell in love instantly with every horse I looked at. Well after I grew out of 4H, I was still really interested in horses. I went from barn to barn in search for a permanent place to give me lessons. After a while one of my mom's friends gave me the offer to look after her blind horse who needed a companian, so of course i was thrilled to do it. I went over a few days in the week just to brush her and bond with her. After a long time of doing that, my mom got a call from the owner of one of the old barns I took lessons at. She said she had a horse she was selling and thought I might like it. I had NO information on her, but I couldn't wait to go and see her. She was only 600 dollars or so, as she was previously on her way to the meat market and was not very well trained. So my mom's friend offered to let us board her for free at the same barn where her blind horse was, providing that I do chores everynight and work for her stay. The day we brought her home was July 7, 2008. I rode her almost all summer, until we realized she was having a lot of trouble with her front feet. We got the vet to come out and he made his diagnosis. Arthritis. He prescribed her some bute and other medication that I was to rub thoroughly into her fetlock area twice a day, every day for about a month or so. I was also supposed to soak her foot in cold water for 20 minutes straight once a day. So after that time was up and we should have been able to ride her again, I rode her for a little while until the same signs of lameness returned. We called a different vet out and she recommended stall rest for the season. So after fall came and went with Sage on stall rest, winter wasted no time in bringing in the inches of snow, preventing us from getting out much. Then spring came around and I started riding her more often. We got into jumping and her leg was still fine. Then Aries (Sage's pasture buddy) was ready to deliver a foal, so the barn owner started riding her blind horse more often instead of Aries. That is when we discovered how bad Sage had seperation anxiety from Aries. When I would try and take her on a trail with the blind horse, we would get to the end of the driveway before she would rear and try to run back to the pasture. Through the months of working with her on her own and getting her to go up the road and even further all on her own, we have begun to overcome her seperation anxiety. We've also been making real progress on her jumping and flatwork skills as well. We have more trust in each other than ever before, and I know we have a lot to come in the future. We have had no miraculous breakthrough. We have a really long journey ahead of us and it will come in time!! :)
