Written, directed and designed by William Stitt "The Forms of Things Unknown" is a Borgesian nature documentary that follows the life of an unknown creature. In its running time its description becomes anthropomorphically altered, turning more human than beast.

Cold, bleak figures lay on slabs and beings long past exude the dark comedy of life. The creatures in these pieces exude the humour and darkness of the fleeting existence that is shared by sentient forms. There are beings that may be said to have never existed at all, as they passed out of the world of forms unnoticed. There are creatures only rarely seen that we will never truly know and others that slip from reality without a trace. There are creatures that leave remains and there are others only briefly studied and explored of which we rely on drawings and artist renderings. These animals, like the Dodo bird, are no more real than the description of bewildered authors. They are spectres, memories of the beings that have gone from life. These beings show the farce of reality. There are animals that are said to exist and then are found to be mythical, and myths that turn to be true. The Dodo is no more real than the representations of it. It is no more real than the creatures of Borgesian dialogues. The works collected in the series of The Forms of Things Unknown is an indifferent viewing of unknown and fleeting creatures. Anthropomorphized beings dot the work and allow the viewer to connect to the animal that they see. These humanized animals take on their own stories and embody emotions, each one a transitory event in life.
